Looking Back: Cusack Screamer Fuzz

About a year or so ago when I was on tour with Big Sir, during our stop in Portugal a fan came by and gave me this wonderful little pedal. I’ve been so blessed and fortunate over the years to receive such wonderful things from fans and other musicians. The fan who gave this one to me thought it was a bit extreme for him. Everyone’s got their own tastes, but you know me, I’m all about extreme sounds! (Also, if you are the one who gave this to me please email me so I can give you proper credit!)

A little info about Cusack Music, founded in 2002 in Holland, Michigan by Jon and Jamie Cusack the company has come such a long way since just making pedals! Cusack Music has ventured into amps, cabs, and they even make their own cables too! The Cusack Screamer Fuzz is their take on the Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer but also includes a fuzz component! It’s super gnarly and has no problem cutting through any mix. Turn the Screamer knob all the way down, instant fuzz! Turn the Fuzz knob all the way down, instant overdrive! You can of course blend both of these to taste. It’s a very versatile two-in-one pedal, Cusack Music took what inspired them and managed to blaze a new sonic path. They’ve since updated the pedal with a new and improved version, there is also a bass version of the pedal available as well.

I really love watching the growth of these small boutique companies into becoming something larger than life! Their Screamer Fuzz made its way to me by way of Portugal! So their reach is definitely there. Support your local music businesses! We’re all in this together, and supporting the smaller guys on their way up is the best way to foster innovation for the industry!
