Demo: Digitech Luxe & Drop

Digitech is the great company that brought us the Whammy pedal. These two pedals, the Luxe and Drop, are the offspring of the famous Whammy and the sounds are absolutely spot on. The LuxeDigitech’s “anti chorus” is first up and this effect delivers that familiar “detune effect from the popular Whammy™ product line and adds positive and negative detune capabilities.” It is actually not a chorus pedal as there is no modulation happening to your notes. The Luxe detunes your instrument’s sound and, as Nick Reinhart runs through it in this video, you can hear it is not chorusing!

After the Luxe, the Drop gets a run through and this pedal is as fun and creative as any other pedal Digitech makes. I remember a band I was in, called DC-10, made a record and the guitarist and I did little solo sections and his solo section (at the 5:33 mark) was hitting one note and then he turned his detune knob on his Whammy as his solo. We both thought it was pretty musical and so we left it on the record. Well the Drop pedal does this exact function. If you put the switch on momentary, you “will cause the footswitch to act as a momentary switch (the effect will be enabled or disabled only as long as the footswitch is pressed and held)!” Digitech does it again with creating something so unique and useful.
