Top Ten Pedals of 2019

As we make our way into the new decade, we here at Pedals and Effects wanted to take a look back at the pedals that really impressed us in 2019. The last few years have really shown us that we truly are in the golden age of effects pedals. Smaller pedal operations have been enough to shake up the industry with their output, and even get the titans of the industry to notice and do similar things. In the end we all benefit from innovation. So let’s take a look at what innovation brought us in 2019!

Red Panda: Tensor

Red Panda: Tensor

Pedals and Effects has nothing but love for Red Panda, we've featured just about every pedal they've put out! Kurt and the crew in Detroit are on the cutting edge and we always make a point to stop by when we're passing through on tour. So when we caught wind of something new brewing in the lab, we were super curious and we knew that whatever it was, it would be great. That time is now, and the next great Red Panda effects pedal is the sampling and time warping, Tensor.

Red Panda Particle

Red Panda Particle

The Red Panda Particle is easily one of my favorite effect pedals ever; it’s a granular delay/pitch shifting pedal but also offers so much more. When Jonathan Hischke first brought over Josh Klinghoffer’s Particle, we plugged it in and spent about an hour playing through it and looking at each other in amazement. The way this pedal manipulates your instrument’s sound is simply beyond words.

Demo: Red Panda’s Raster Digital Delay

This video review of Red Panda’s Raster with Dan Elkan and Nick Reinhart is one of my favorite videos we've done on Pedals And Effects. This pedal is so deep, I knew I had to ask pedal wizard, Dan Elkan, to help me really do this insane digital delay, justice. What I love about this video is that Nick comes in like a guy who hasn’t played through the pedal at all. Then Dan comes in and, in a highly detailed approach, shows Nick what is so fantastic about this pedal.

One of the best companies in the boutique pedal game is Red Panda. They make interesting effects that sound like no other, and they are helping musicians reach new levels in sonic creation! Their designs are smart, their artwork is clean and their functionality is off the charts! The Bitmap is no exception and is one of the most useful and manageable bit crushers Pedals And Effects has come across.
