Beetronics: Octahive & Whoctahell

Beetronics: Octahive & Whoctahell

NAMM is definitely a whirlwind of a weekend, for us there isn't a whole lot of time to really dig into new stuff. We caught buzz of a few guys walking around the convention center in beekeeper outfits and were told by multiple people to check out their stuff. On the last day of NAMM 2017, we found out that these guys fresh from Brazil ran an effects pedal company called Beetronics.

Pedals And Effects: In Conversation with Julie Slick

Pedals And Effects is honored to welcome bass player extraordinaire, Julie Slick! Julie stopped by 5Starr Sound labs where we talked gigs, gear, and so much more. You may know Julie from her work with the Adrian Belew Power Trio, or more recently from a video that was making the rounds on social media, where she ripped crazy bass while an artist painted the walls around her. Without further ado, here is Pedals And Effects in conversation with Julie Slick.

Demo: Pigtronix Quantum Time Modulator

Demo: Pigtronix Quantum Time Modulator

Pigtronix's Quantum Time Modulator is a vibrato, a chorus, and a wild time stretching effect that provides some pretty cool and useful sounds. Pigtronix was inspired by Frank Zappa's MicMix DynaFlanger sound, and although I am not too familiar with that specific unit I fully trust that Dave at Pigtronix managed to achieve that exact sound. Dave, and the crew at Pigtronix are all pedal wizards, and are constantly coming out with new pedals to change the effects game.

Nick and I have very funny conversations when we hang out, and sometimes our plans get very bizarre and we wonder if anyone else is going to find our ideas too strange. Take today's post, 100 Pedals. Are there people out there in YouTube land really interested in seeing 100 pedals chained up together? We talked about it and concluded, yes!

Here it is, our 100 Pedals video!

Review: Seppuku FX Kompakt Kaset Delay

Alessandro Cortini comes through Pedals And Effects again to review another wild effects pedal! This time it’s the Seppuku FX Kompakt Kaset delay! This is a wild pedal that Alessandro describes as producing sounds that resemble a broken channel on a 4 track cassette recorder. Alessandro is an absolute sonic genius, and he manages to finds pedals that I have been unable to locate and is willing to share them with us.
